Poetry
My favorite hymn of all time is "To God Be the Glory." (I do realize many people younger than 25 have no idea what a hymn is, but I love the old hymns as much as the 'new' worship music.:) The hymn is written by Fanny Crosby who wrote over 8000 hymns. Today I was doing a little reading about her and found her first poem. It is pretty amazing for an 8 year old. By the way, Fanny was blind.
O what a happy soul am I!
Although I cannot see
I am resolved that in this world
Contented I will be
How many blessings I enjoy
That other people don't
To weep and sigh because I'm blind
I cannot, and I won't!
Just a little something to help you start to get into an attitude of gratitude as Thanksgiving approaches.

That's great, Shan. To God be the Glory is one of my favourites too. I think we had it at our wedding.
I wish I could write real poems not just goofy stuff! And I went to Hymn Sing in Como Park every week with my family growing up. We sang that hymn every single week! The last time we sang it someone was like, how do you know all the words to that hymn? If only they knew what it was like to grow up in my world. But I'm glad.
Thanks for the note on Fanny Crosby. A remarkable woman--and today is the 159th anniversary of her conversion.
She maintained that positive attitude toward her blindness, saying it rejoiced her to know that the first face she would ever see in heaven would be that of her Saviour.
If you want to learn a bit more about her, I invite you to check out my daily blog on hymn history, Wordwise Hymns. God bless.
